The D90 is available now, whereas the new Canon equivalent won't be available for at least another 4 or 5 months!

Whatever Canon releases from now on will have 1080p movie mode and the D90 does up to 720p. If 1080 is important, you can wait for the Canon (perhaps called the "60D" or "7D", but not for sure yet), or get a Rebel T1i, which is 15 MP and includes a 1080p HD movie mode.

The new Canon is just "rumored" at this point, so I would opt for the Nikon D90 if you are anxious to start shooting.

If you are looking in that ballpark you may want to look at the new Nikon D5000

It doesnt really matter, it should come down to which camera you like the feel of more. They are virtually the same, but here is what the Canon offers that the D90 does not. Up to 12800 ISO (I havent seen any tests yet so who knows what its like) and both 720 and 1080 video modes, although the 1080 is a fairly slow frame rate. Its much more a question of which brand you like better. And that can only be discovered by trying them both.

Even Though Nikon D90 is a Goood cam, but s till Canon beats them all when it comes to performance, so i would advice you to wait for Canon to launch new one.
